We are delighted to announce the
Launch of The Cambridge Centre for Greek Studies
Date: Friday 28th June 2019
Time: 11am
Venue: St John's College, Cambridge, CB2 1TP
Cambridge University is establishing a new Centre for Greek Studies, a forum for specialists in the history, culture, and language of the Greek peninsula and associated territories, from prehistoric times to the present day.
The launch will be on 28th June 2019 in the beautiful surroundings of St John’s College, Cambridge.
We have planned a symposium on the subject of “The Long Antiquity: Greece and Greek throughout the Ages,” followed by a reception. The aim of the symposium is to explore, and indeed question, the idea of Greek continuity throughout the ages.
The Launch and Symposium are free to attend. Registration will open on Monday 13th May 2019. We will send out an email with a link to the booking site just prior to this.
We, the directors of the Centre, are very excited about this new venture and look forward to welcoming you to the event.
With all best wishes,
Ianthi Tsimpli, Professor of English and Applied Linguistics (Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages)
Tim Whitmarsh, A.G. Leventis Professor of Greek Culture (Faculty of Classics)
Directors, Cambridge Centre for Greek Studies
