Welcome to the first Summer School of the School of Philosophy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), on the island of Chios, titled:
“Humanities: The School of Philosophy of NKUA Meets Society.”
Dates: 13th to 18th July, 2025
Venue: Korais Library | 11th Primary School of Chios,
This initiative aims to showcase and share the educational, research, and social contributions of the School of Philosophy in more remote parts of Greece.
The programme is a collaboration between the School of Philosophy, the Interdisciplinary Laboratory “Linguistics and the Teaching of Grammar,” and the Koraes Public Historical Central Library of Chios. It is designed not only to introduce the people of Chios to the work being carried out at the School of Philosophy, but also to create meaningful connections between that work and the island’s culture and everyday life.
The Summer School will feature a series of talks and hands-on workshops, open to students, parents, and educators. Participation is free, but advance registration is required.
Our guest speaker will be Professor Ianthi Maria Tsimpli, a distinguished linguist at the University of Cambridge. Professor Tsimpli is a graduate of the NKUA Department of Philology and originally from Kardamyla, Chios.
Please note: this event will be delivered in Greek only.
