We are delighted to report that Professor Ianthi Tsimpli, FBA, one of our Co-Directors, has been elected Fellow of the British Academy (BA).
The British Academy is the United Kingdom’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences. Founded in 1902, the Academy is a fellowship of over 1400 of world-leading scholars and researchers and acts as a focal point for debate and engagement. It's Fellows are elected on the basis of academic distinction and outstanding contribution to their subjects as evidened by active research and publication.
Ianthi joins the ranks of many other Cambridge academics and scholars including Professor Dame Mary Beard, Professor Sir Simon Schama, Baroness Brenda Hale, and Ianthi's fellow Co-Director of CCGS, Professor Tim Whitmarsh.
Four other Cambridge scholars were also elected:
Professor Duncan Bell FBA (Professor of Political Thought and International Relations, Fellow of Christ’s College),
Professor Sarah Franklin FBA (Faculty of Human, Social and Political Science and Christ's College),
Professor Richard Holton FBA (Professor of Philosophy, Fellow of Peterhouse),
Professor Samuel Lieu FBA, (President of the International Union of Academies, Bye Fellow of Robinson College).
