Cambridge Centre for Greek Studies - Greek Dialogues - Cambridge University
Thursday, 27 February, 2020 - 19:30 to 20:30
Lecture Theatre, The Old Divinity School, St John's College, Cambridge, CB2 1TP

Another event in the Greek Dialogues series from the Cambridge Centre for Greek Studies.

Professor Candida Moss talks with Dr. Renaud Gagné about our age’s fetishisation of Greek papyri, and in particular the powerful effect on the trade wrought by the new Museum of the Bible in Washington DC.

Her tangled tale of evangelical billionaires, mangled mummies and playboy academics, and the rise and fall of great reputations, is the stuff of Hollywood — but it is all real, and continues to send shockwaves through the academy.

Candida Moss is the Edward Cadbury Professor of Theology at the University of Birmingham, and the author (with Joel Baden) of Bible Nation: The United States of Hobby Lobby (Princeton, 2017).

Renaud Gagné is Reader in Ancient Greek Literature and Religion at the University of Cambridge.
