Professor Ruth Padel (King's College, London) explores the interplay of cultures within cultures through an examination of the Jewish community on Crete.
Using her latest novel, "Daughters of the Labyrinth," as a starting point, Prof. Padel highlights the cultural and historical impacts of interactions between between the predominantly Greek society on Crete and the smaller cultures embedded within in it, using the experiences of the small, Jewish community and its experiences during the Second World War.
